The Syllables Learning Center team is committed to supporting students in New Jersey with one-on-one tutoring and teletherapy. We work with students of all ages and levels with dyslexia, ADHD, or related learning differences, as well as typical learners. 4 in Every 10 Students Struggle with Reading
According to the 2026 Education Scorecard, New Jersey ranks 19th out of 35 states in reading between 2022 and 2025. In reading, the average student is performing about .41 grade equivalents below 2019 levels.
In 2025, only 53% of students statewide passed the English language arts section of the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments, which are administered annually in the spring for grades 3-9. This means 4 in every 10 NJ elementary and middle school students are not reading proficiently.

Only 38% of fourth graders in New Jersey scored at or above “proficient” on the 2024 National Assessment of Educational Progress reading test, compared with 49% in 2017.
