Bridgeport Falling Behind Other Connecticut School Districts
According to data released by the Educational Opportunity Project at Stanford University, average test scores (both reading and math) in Bridgeport School District are 3.18 grade levels below the national average.
Results from the 2024 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) revealed that only 36% of fourth-grade students in Connecticut scored at or above “proficiency” levels in reading, compared to 40% in 2019. This indicates that over 60% of students aged 9-10 are not reading proficiently.
